Roam34’s technical specification gives 26–34 litres total and separately describes a 22–30-litre central section plus a four-litre organizer, although official expansion copy also uses 22–30L without always naming that scope. Roam34 grows from 460 × 280 × 200mm at 26L to 460 × 280 × 260mm at 34L. Retaining that official wording conflict is more useful than forcing one number into every context. Decide how much room the largest ordinary load needs and whether the additional expanded depth will be used often enough to matter.

A computer may settle the choice first

MAX28’s official pages conflict: the global record gives 360 × 245mm, while the current US record gives 340 × 245mm. Use the conservative rectangle unless the exact regional item documentation resolves the difference. Roam34's page makes a 15-inch laptop claim but does not publish equivalent pocket measurements. Both need a fit check with the actual computer, especially when a protective case adds bulk. Do not assume the Roam's greater luggage capacity means its laptop pocket is larger. A roomy central compartment and a constrained computer opening can exist in the same bag.

Expansion is for cargo, not a waterproofing upgrade

These models combine a roll-top laptop section with zipped cargo and organizer areas. Their manufacturer-stated waterproof protection is specific to the laptop compartment. If you plan to bring a dry change of clothes, decide how you will protect it inside the remaining storage. The expandable section can be useful when bringing a helmet along after parking, but test your particular helmet and remaining load together. A statement that a bag can carry a full-face helmet is not a promise that every helmet will fit beside a full day's belongings.

Let the everyday routine break the tie

The Roam's waxed-cotton construction and sissy-bar strap give it reasons to exist beyond its larger number. The latter is relevant only if your motorcycle and intended mounting arrangement are suitable. Follow the supplied instructions and verify clearances rather than treating a backpack strap as a universal mounting solution. If you will always wear the pack, evaluate that feature accordingly.

A work bag decision can stop at laptop fit: confirm the computer first, then check how you reach it and your other frequently used items. For errands that fill the expansion, try the larger load against your back as well. MAX28 is sufficient if both routines fit; Roam34 warrants the extra space when you actually use it, or its waxed-cotton construction or mounting provision is part of the purchase. The layouts establish those choices, without comparative comfort or durability testing.
