Which pockets in your motorcycle backpack are waterproof?
Check every compartment separately and record the maker's exact wording. A waterproof main body does not automatically cover a front zip pocket; a waterproof laptop pocket does not make the cargo body waterproof; and a rain cover does not change the construction underneath.

Make a compartment map
Open the bag and identify each distinct storage area. Note how it closes, whether it has a removable liner, and the wording the maker uses for that compartment. Mark it as waterproof, water-resistant or unspecified according to the documentation, rather than upgrading the claim based on how substantial the fabric feels.
Kriega describes the R22 as providing 18 litres of waterproof storage plus a separate 4-litre quick-access front pocket. Match belongings to the documented protection
List the belongings you need to keep dry, such as a computer, paper documents, spare clothing or camera equipment. Assign those items to the specified protected compartment or an appropriate separate enclosure. Keep that decision visible in your packing routine so convenience does not move the most vulnerable item into an unverified pocket.
Padding, organization and weather protection serve different purposes. A padded sleeve can make a computer easier to locate and separate from accessories without establishing a waterproof barrier. Likewise, a rain cover is a separate component with its own fit and use instructions. Do not infer protection for a hidden pocket merely because it sits behind the cover.

Before relying on a previously used pack, check that the specified liner is present, seated correctly and undamaged, and that you have enough room to complete the prescribed closure. If a compartment’s protection remains unclear, ask the maker a precise question naming that pocket and model version. For example: “Is the front zip pocket covered by the waterproof claim, or only the roll-top compartment?” Keep the answer with your product information. Checking the liner and closure can reveal a missing part or packing mistake, but neither that inspection nor brief rain exposure establishes a waterproof rating.
