Will your laptop fit a motorcycle backpack?
Measure the closed laptop with its protective case, add your chosen clearance, and compare all three dimensions with the usable compartment. Test width and height in both flat orientations, then verify the opening and closure separately. A screen-size label or a passing rectangle calculation cannot guarantee physical fit.

Record the closed computer's width, height and thickness in one unit. If you use a protective case, measure the case with the computer inside it. Screen diagonal does not describe the chassis rectangle, and converting a 15-inch or 17-inch screen label into a compartment measurement is not valid.
Choose a small explicit clearance for padding and measurement uncertainty rather than rounding a borderline device down. The Laptop Fit Planner adds that allowance to width, height and thickness. It accepts the rectangle only when either width-to-width and height-to-height, or width-to-height and height-to-width, pass while thickness also passes.
Read the exact laptop claim
Kriega gives the updated MAX28 laptop pocket a maximum rectangle of 360 by 245mm but does not publish a thickness limit on the cited page. Its roll-top laptop pocket is a separate waterproof section; the zipped central cargo section is not described as wholly waterproof. By contrast, Kriega says the R22's 18-liter waterproof main body has capacity for a 17-inch laptop, which is not the same as publishing a fitted sleeve rectangle.
OGIO says the Mach 5 padded sleeve fits most 15-inch laptops; most leaves exceptions. Riderbag publishes a 17 by 11-inch pocket and a screen class up to 16 inches for the Reflektor35, again without a depth figure on the cited page. Alpinestars gives only the City Hunter V2's exterior dimensions and approximate capacity, so usable laptop fit remains unknown. Exact wording determines what can enter the calculator and what still needs confirmation.

First compare the interior rectangle. Then try the cased computer in the orientation you intend to use without forcing it through the opening. A sleeve may be large enough internally while its zipper arc, seam or roll-top throat blocks insertion. Check that the base seats naturally, the retaining strap reaches, and the device does not obstruct the intended closure.
Load the charger, lunch, clothing and other work items and repeat the closure and removal sequence. If removal requires bending the sleeve, dragging a corner past a seam or unloading unrelated items, the layout has failed the access check even when the dimensions pass. Keep padding, physical fit and water protection as three separate questions.
Use a four-result decision, not a yes-or-no label
Record one of four outcomes: documented pass, documented no-fit, dimensions incomplete, or dimensions pass but opening/closure unverified. Unknown depth must stay unknown; entering the backpack's exterior depth would create a false pass. A no-fit result is useful because it prevents an unsuitable exact-model offer from being presented as a match.
After the laptop check, verify the entire commuter load and access routine and the harness over your intended jacket. Those checks answer different questions and should not be collapsed into one compatibility claim.
